Updated COVID Protocols

Elma School District has updated COVID protocols in accordance with recent changes in K-12 Schools Requirements from the Washington State Department of Health and Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction.

The most notable change was made to the duration of isolation if symptomatic, or in the case of a positive test.

Previously, when someone presented COVID-19 symptoms, or tested positive, they were required to isolate at home for 10 days.

Isolation has been reduced to 5 days at home since symptom onset or date of positive test. Symptoms must be absent or resolving and you must be without a fever in the past 24 hours (without medication). You must monitor for symptoms and wear a well-fitting mask for the next 5 days (days 6-10).

Quarantine when exposed to someone with COVID-19 stays at 10 days if you choose to not test. The length of quarantine can be reduced by choosing Option 1 (Test to Stay) or Option 2 (Test to Return) from the Return to School document (see below).

The following documents reflect the changes to our COVID protocols.
