Partnerships at Elma Elementary promote social-emotional learning

At Elma Elementary School, some teachers create a partnership between different grade-level students. One such partnership involves Mrs. Woodruff's Kindergarten class and Ms. Spoonhoward's 5th grade class. 

The 5th grade students mentor the Kindergarten students as "Big Buddies." This partnership helps our students with social-emotional learning through maintaining positive relationships and building a strong sense of belonging. Students also develop greater levels of empathy and are able to practice kindness in action.
