Administrators & Teachers review Strategic Plan

The Elma School District is working to finalize a new strategic plan. Most organizations have a strategic plan, including Amazon and Netflix. Netflix has had many updates to their strategic plans as business plans shifted based on market demands. After starting as a mailer video rental, Netflix wisely shifted to online streaming. Then, they updated their strategic plan to minimize costs, letting customers spend time rating products to guide the Netflix algorithms. The company uses customer data to personalize in-platform ads and earn revenue through ads to customer emails. The U.S. Department of Defense's current strategic plan is to defend the U.S., modernize technological dominance, and address emerging global threats. These plans change drastically based on who is the sitting President, and plans are updated accordingly. 

On Tuesday, August 11, administrators and teachers gathered for a work day to learn, discuss, and review the new strategic plan. One of the biggest elements of the day was reviewing all of the feedback gathered from our students and determining how the district can best put their words into practice. The strategic plan serves as a step-by-step roadmap for an organization, typically for 3-5 years, so a thorough review is necessary. 

Dr. Tammy Campbell of The Scholar First was on-site, as Elma School District is utilizing her services for the new strategic plan given her significant experience in this area. She has successfully guided dozens of other school districts through the process with step-by-step plans to achieve goals outlined in a strategic plan. 

Back in February 2026, the Elma School Board approved a new strategic plan process. They will need to approve the final draft before it is published, but we're at the second phase where we can begin to put words into action. As the plan is student-centered, we will continue to solicit feedback from our students.
