Update from the Superintendent
As you all are aware, at the regular meeting held last week, the Board took action to allow pre-school, kindergarten, first and second grade students to return to school for in person instruction in a hybrid model. Unfortunately, this action was dependent upon the positive continuation of the downward trend of Grays Harbor Covid numbers. However, as of today, rather than the hopeful decline, the WA Risk Assessment Dashboard reflects an increase that has flattened out somewhat in the 110-120/100,000 range and has prompted the Board to delay the return of those students.

Superintendent's Message

Hello Families,

Thank you for your continued support of your student as we continue to rise to meet the challenges of the pandemic. As we approach the opportunity to provide in-person instruction it warms my heart to know the amazing support from our community. This pandemic era has proven to be a test of our resilience and yet the Elma community has pushed forward to be supportive and understanding of the great care and task needed to make critical decisions. I realize that often our decisions may not meet everyone's needs and time frame but please know that all factors and precautions are taken into great consideration with immense care and love to make sure that our students are served the best way possible in a safe and secure manner.

Thank you to our families who have jumped to the challenge to assist with mentoring and coaching and teaching our students from the grandparents to the parents to the guardians to our child care providers. You have simply been amazing.

Thank you for the involvement, support and care of our board of directors and our caring Elma School district staff who provide every opportunity for our students to learn, to be safe and to be successful.

As Brene Brown states; “When we deny the story, it defines us. When we own the story, we can write a brave new ending”.

Together we can write our story for Elma School District students.

With appreciation,
